A Gesture

A Gesture

Summary

Commissioned by the University of the Arts Utrecht, A Gesture is a 310-page publication showcasing the work of 180 graduates—each contributing a unique interpretation of what it means to make a gesture. Rather than categorising by discipline, the book is structured through themes: Approach, Arouse, Merge, Question, and Revive. These serve as a narrative framework, allowing each project to speak through shared ideas instead of traditional silos.

Valentino Angela, Founder of Recent™ contributed to the development, design, and production oversight of the publication. The book is printed using offset technique and packaged in a screen-printed sleeve, fastened with a bold green elastic. The tactile nature of the object reflects the diversity and energy of the student work, turning the final piece into both a catalogue and a statement.
